JUNELI RAAT
MY EXPERIENCE........
Well it was an autumn night; cool breeze was blowing again and again. I pulled out my shawl and wrapped within my body to get extra heat. It was a good show indeed, but horror shows on the theatre really dismay me .But anyways I was not alone in the theatre. I was with my pals. They had brought me here just lying that it’s a comedy film. They made me a real fool.
“Madam the road is under construction I can’t take u further,” taxi driver said. “Its jus 10 minutes from here, I mean my home is just 10 minutes far and how can I get down from the taxi in this mid night. Just take that road”, I insisted the driver. It was an alternate way to my home but rather longer. Driver turned towards me and nodded his head and agreed to take me in his taxi.
His golden bright eyes (his pupil was reflected by the lights coming from street lamps and the surrounding) seemed as if is he was then going to harm me. He might be the poltergeist and is trying to divert my mind, I thought for a while. Similar scene was there on cinema. So without telling anything I got down the taxi and paid him the taxi charge. He was trying to return me the change but I was in hurry, without looking back I took my steps. Then I heard someone following me. It could be the same haunted soul trying to mar me. I was sure of it and I knew the precaution as well. The sadhu in the cinema had given the tips that “when ghosts follow you, you never turn back, walk as fast as possible. Then if he tries to call u, never reply back. If u do not follow the instructions he will certainly execute u to mollify his hunger.” It was the instruction given to the heroine by the holy man in the film and I decided to follow this as well. So I didn’t look back.
Then suddenly I heard a voice “ma’m jus look back, ma’m jus stop once.” I knew its ghost. I should not reply back and even should not turn back otherwise it can victimize me. Thinking so, I started running. “Ma’m please listen me ma’m”. Then I was cent percent sure that it was a ghost otherwise it wound not have followed me leaving the taxi behind. I thanked myself for being brave enough to escape out from his taxi. I ran as fast as possible chanting the holy mantras. Reached my home and locked the doors properly. I got bit strength and went to the prayer room and started praying. My family was ignorant about the incidents. So was amazed by my behaviors.
After few minutes the bell ranged. My dad approached near to open the lock. I insisted him several times not to open the lock but he denied my request. Hence the door was opened. I slowly peeped through the keyhole of my prayer room, it was the same taxi driver talking to my dad and handing him something. I couldn’t see all those properly. Then the driver went back.
I opened my door and asked the dad why that person here was for. I got my answers. Thank to that reliable driver for he was here at my home to return all my documents and tickets, and visa to abroad which I left in his taxi in fear of the ghosts. If he hadn’t been here I could not have enrolled in this university.

A bit of gossip starting in Washington reaches New York very quickly, eventhough not a single individual who takes part in spreading it travels between these two cities. There are two different motions involved, that of the rumor, Washington to New York, and that of persons who spread the rumor. The wind, passing over the field grain, sets up a wave which spreads out across the field. Here again we must distinguish between the motion of wave n the motion of separate plants, which undergo only small oscillations. We have all seen the waves that spread in wider n wide circles when a stone is dropped in to a pool of water. The motion of the wave is very different fm that of the particles of water. The particles merely go up n down .The observed motion of the wave is that of a state of matter n not of matter itself. A cork floating on the wave shows this clearly, for it moves up n down in imitation of the actual motion of the water, instead of being carried along by the wave.........
In order to understand better mechanism of the wave, let us consider an idealized experiment .Suppose that a large space is filled quite uniformly with water, or air, or some other medium. Somewhere in the center there is a sphere. At the beginning of the experiment there is no motion at all. Suddenly the sphere begins to "breathe" rhythmically, expanding and contracting in volume, although retaining its spherical shape. What will happen in the medium? Let us begin our examination at the moment the sphere begins to expand .The particles of the medium in immediate vicinity of the sphere are pushed out, so that the density of the spherical shell of water, or air, as the case may be, is increased above its normal value. Similarly, when the sphere contracts, the density of that part of the medium immediately surrounding it will be decreased. These changes of density r propagated throughout the entire medium. The particles constituting the medium perform only small vibrations, but the whole motion is that of a progressive wave. The essentially new thing here is that for the first time we consider the motion of something which is not matter, but energy propagated throughout the matter.
Using the example of pulsating sphere, we may introduce two physical concepts, important for the characterization of waves. The first is the velocity with which the waves spread. This will depend on the medium, being different for water and air, for example. The second concept is of wavelength. In the case of waves on sea or river it is the distance from the trough of one wave to that of next, or the crest of one wave to that of next
. Thus the sea waves have greater wavelength than river waves. In the case of our waves set up by a pulsating sphere the wavelength is the distance, at some definite time, between two neighboring spherical shells showing maxima or minima of density. It is the evident that this distance will not depend on the medium alone .The rate of pulsation of the sphere will certainly have a great effect, making the wavelength shorter if the pulsation becomes more rapid, longer if the pulsation becomes slower.
This concept of a wave proved very successful in physics. It is definitely a mechanical concept. The phenomenon is reduced to the motion of particles which, according to the kinetic theory, are constituents of matter. Thus every theory which uses the concept of wave can, in general, be regarded as a mechanical theory. For example, the explanation of acoustical phenomena is based essentially on this concept. Vibrating bodies, such as vocal cords and violin strings, are sources of sound waves which are propagated through the air in the manner explained for the pulsating sphere. It is thus possible to reduce all the acoustical phenomena to mechanics by means of wave concept

बरु लेउ द्रिढ विश्वाश मलम सम्झेर
मुटु भित्र मानबताको रगत छरेर,

हरेश नखाउ तिमी कतै
लडे कठै भनेर,
बरु उठ पटक पटक जित्छु अब भनेर।
छातीभरि विश्वाशको दीप बालेर,
रोम रोममा रहरहरु माटोको बोकेर,
हिडि राख तिमी सधैं
गगनलाई छुन,
बुद्धको शन्ति बनि उपदेश स्वरूप लिएर।
नसुर्ताउ तिमी कहिल्यै
थाके पैतला भनेर,
बरु दौढ अब चाडै पुग्नुछ भनेर।
MEETING AT NIGHT
The grey sea and the long black land;
And the yellow half-moon large and low;
And the startled little waves that leap
In fiery ringlets from their sleep,
As I gain the cove with pushing prow,
And quench its speed I’ the slushy sand.
Then mile of warm sea-scented beach;
Three fields to cross till a farm appears;
A tap at the pane, the quick sharp scratch
And blue spurt of lighted match,
And a voice less loud, thro’ its joy and fears,
Than the two hearts beating each other!

THE ROADS NOT TAKEN
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no steps had trodden back.
Oh! I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how many leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
